Food For Thought

It’s easy to say that we are what we eat and then we have to wonder that if we are 50% pizza, if that’s really good enough?

Maybe it is, when you think about it, as a pizza is 100% pizza and I don’t hear them complaining.

However, joking aside, it is good to eat a balanced diet.

And sometimes it isn’t. What I mean by that is there are times when it’s okay to indulge ourselves a little. I’m not suggesting we spend a week just eating chocolate, or drink ourselves into a stupor.

When we are tired, fed up and feeling a little frayed around the edges it’s healthy to allow ourselves some treats.

If we are bored of cooking we can pop in a ready meal, or choose a pizza and allow ourselves some space.

We can elbow the veg for a day and munch our way through food that makes us feel calmer and more contented. If it’s one indulgence day then we are unlikely to come to any harm.

Obviously, I’m not suggesting we do anything harmful, merely to recognise that there are days when we need to allow ourselves to relax and take it easy.

Is there something from your childhood that you long for?

A friend of mine reminded me that smoothies are fun and I’ve dusted off my smoothie maker now and intend to fire it up with fruit and hang the consequences!

I may even throw in some chocolate too. That’s not in the recipe book, tut tut, as that would be naughty. Do I care? No.

Small wins and exciting things help the days to feel more fun. Our mood brightens and we smile more. Food is a good way to find a smile and this blog post has been powered by some unhealthy chocolate.

This week we can all think about what we can do to be calm, feel a little indulged and enjoy ourselves!
